In addition to the postgraduate and PhD programmes run by the department, we offer Mathematics as a core subject in four undergraduate programmes. In a holistic learning environment created by a highly competent and experienced faculty, aspiring young Mathematicians get nurtured and groomed to contribute significantly to society.
At the undergraduate level, the curriculum focuses on providing a solid foundation in a diverse range of mathematical subjects, developing technological competence, soft skills, and personal development. Computational skills are enhanced by providing courses in FOSS tools like Python and R. Also, we train students in Origin, MATLAB, and Ansys for numerical simulations and research. In the two-year postgraduate programme, a comprehensive syllabus (in accordance with the NET/UGC-CSIR syllabus), add-on courses, summer internships, service learning, self-learning through MOOCs, project work, and journal club activities are among the key features.
A curriculum development cell periodically reviews the curriculum and oversees needed changes. Regular feedback from students, alumni, industry, and academic experts enhances the quality of an up-to-date syllabus and helps in initiating changes as and when required. Doctoral students contribute to the vibrant ambience of research. Annually, the department publishes about 70 research papers in reputed journals. Empowered by an experienced, research-focused, committed, and skilled team of 19 faculty members, armed with an innovative and updated curriculum, and equipped with the best practices of imparting mathematical knowledge, the department has been successful in providing education that is scientific, meaningful, and employable as envisaged in the National Policy of Education 2020 of India.

One of the unique opportunities we offer is the Undergraduate Research Immersion Programme (UGRIP), which introduces students to research early in their academic journey.
